So I know I missed last week. What can I say, I’m a little inconsistent at times. Honestly I just got so busy playing catch-up on a few things because I have recently been appointed the new Celebrity Editor at VULKAN Magazine! I’m so stoked. I’ve been writing for VULKAN for a bit under a year now and I was disheartened to hear that my Editor Rebecca was leaving the team to pursue other opportunities….. but I can’t say I’m not happy that it opened up a door for me to get some experience as an Editor. My focus lately has been the celebrity interviews hence the sort or niche position I was able to pick up. So it’s been a little busy getting set up with all my new tasks, but I’m finally back on track, I think.
I run my half-marathon in a week and a half, and I am stresssssed! I haven’t been out for as many runs as I’d like to have been because they weather has been horrendous. I also haven’t been to the gym which is driving me bonkers, so I need to get on that ASAP.
But with all the changes, however subtle, in my life these days, I thought today’s Wellness Wednesday we could be due for a little reflection. I personally believe self-reflection is vital to growing, and with our busy lives we often don’t give ourselves the opportunity to do so. So if you’d like, feel free to try your hand at some of these questions yourself and see how it helps you plan your next steps in your own journey to wellness 🙂
1. What’s one thing you’re really looking forward to this year?
It seems only fitting that I reflect on this today – as on this day last year, I found myself sitting in a pub in Reykjavik, Iceland with Matt and he, quite spontaneously over dinner, asked me to marry him. I of course said yes, and as a result, what I’m really looking forward to at this point is the continued planning of our wedding next year 🙂 I’m really excited because we’ve already chosen our photographer, so soon we’ll be taking some engagement photos for our invitations which is where the real fun begins! We’ve also chosen our live band and I just know everyone is going to love them. Our officiant, as well, will be creating a super light and funny ceremony to keep our jitters down during the big question – it’s going to be a blast, but there’s still so much work to do!
2. Are you putting enough effort into your relationships?
I think I’ve been putting more effort than ever before in this department. It’s really difficult to maintain friendships especially after moving out of my hometown – even though it’s not terribly far, between work and getting a dog and all the things in between it can be difficult to keep up with everyone. I feel like I’ve learned what relationships are more important to focus on, though, even if it makes me more of a homebody in the process. Overall I think I’m doing alright, but more time spent with my siblings would be beneficial going forward.
3. What are your goals, and how are you working to achieve them?
By this time I had really hoped I’d be finished my debut novel. I’m getting eager to finish and begin the final editing process (I’ve been editing back and forth as I’ve been writing – it’s seriously the best way to cure “writer’s block”.) I haven’t been making it a priority, however, and that’s definitely why it’s not done yet. I’d like to start setting aside a solid hour a day to get it finished – it’s so very close, so by doing that I think I’d be able to have it done in a week or two, max. Of course, it’s not horrible realistic to begin that fully until I’m all caught up on my new VULKAN duties, so I’m going to set a reminder to begin that goal next Monday.
4. What do I need to change about myself?
Loaded question! Just kidding. I think I’ve been putting a lot of focus on not being so hard on myself, but in doing so, I let my motivation slip. Finding a balance is hard but possible, and I think I need to actually start being a bit harsher on myself when it comes to prioritizing my goals. Specifically, right now, I need to stop being such a suck and go running, ugh.
5. What am I most excited about today?
Honestly …. going for dinner with Matt tonight. We don’t get out as much as I’d like us to, and it’s always nice not to have to cook! Appreciate the little things haha.
6. Something you’ve done recently that you’re proud of?
I’m proud of the CN Tower Climb. I had no idea how that was going to go but I did it anyways and managed to surprise myself in the process. The next question is, what’ll my next fitness challenge be?!
That’s all for today, a little reflection before work to help me have a more productive day. Back to interviews! Take care everyone!
I’ll begin adding the fun charts and things again next week as I gear up for the half-marathon. Eek!
